EE 451 - Objectives
The objective of EE 451 is to have the student design and implement
digital filters. Closely coupled to this, the objective of EE 451L is to
implement digital filters in real time
using a Motorola 56002 Digital Signal Processor chip.
To accomplish this, the student will:
- Learn the basics of discrete time systems, including time domain and
frequency domain representations.
- Learn how to analyze and desgin general discrete time systems.
- Learn how to design IIR and FIR filters.
- Learn how to use the Discrete Fourier Transform.
- Learn how to interconnect discrete time systems using different sampling
rates.
In the lab, the student will:
- Learn how to program the 56002 DSP in assembly language.
- Learn how to use some of the internal peripherals of the 56002.
- Learn how to use the Motorola manuals and data sheets to get the
information necessary to do the above tasks.
