This is perhaps my favorite boat of all. She's a bumboat built in Superior Wisconsin and has served her entire carreer in the Twin Ports of Duluth/Superior.
Current owner, Franz VonRiedel took this picture. She's 60' 7" feet long, 14' 2" wide and 7' 5" tall. Gross tonnage is 54 and net tonnage is 37. Built in 1939, she was lengthened 10 feet to her current length in 1965. This picture courtesy of the Duluth Seaway Port Authority
Official hull number 238999, the marine trader is shown here sometime in the 1970's. In this picture she's located just inside the Duluth harbor entry at what looks like the Army Corps of Engineers docks. The Cargil grain elevator and others are visible in the background. Shown here in the 1950's at her original length, a skipper's work is never done. This picture courtesy of the Duluth Seaway Port Authority
This picture is nearly as old as the boat itself. It shows the Allouex ore docks in the Duluth/Superior harbor.
