The rear turn signals for old Thunderbirds had a distinctive pattern in which four segments were illuminated sequentially. For example, when the right turn signal was turned on, the right rear taillight would go through the following sequence:
This can be thought of as a counter which counts the sequence (Note that "0" occurs twice in each sequence)
..., 0, 0, 8, 12, 14, 15, 0, 0, 8, 12, 14, 15, ...
Implement, simulate and test your design in a programmable chip. You may input your design as a graphical .gdf file or a text .tdf file.
Connect the four outputs from the T-Bird
circuit to four of the LEDs on you breadboard. With a slow clock rate, have a TA confirm
that your taillights work correctly. Increase your clock speed, and verify your design
with the logic analyzer.
OPTIONAL BONUS (+10%) - Demonstrate the left and right turn
signals for part 2 (above).
