This is a resource for coaches and students participating in the New Mexico Science Olympiad: Electric Vehicle event. This page was developed to disseminate information about how the event is run and for assistance in developing and scoring your device.

Important Clarification

There have been numerous issues with the poor description in the rules of what exactly constitutes an "electronic component" with respect to the bonus. Here is the reply I received in clarification from the national SO organization. It is now also posted on their FAQ clarifications page (see links section below).

"Common electrical parts such as a motor, power supply (battery), conductors (wires), mechanical relays (switches), and resistors (variable or fixed) may be used and will receive the "no electronic component" bonus. Anything else electronic may be used but will not receive the bonus."
